Direct Ascent's PROGRESSION UPDATE is OUT! (0.6.0)

Sometimes, you just need to make some changes to a game. Times when those changes are made are called "updates" (ever heard of 'em?), and Direct Ascent, the vertical endless runner with rockets, has released its biggest yet today!

Experience new encounters when playing as you progressively unlock rockets by completing certain achievments. Start with the Space Shuttle, and its puny ability to release a satellite that tries its hardest to automatically collect money for you but isn't very good at it. Advance to the Falcon Heavy,  whose boosters can proficiently eradicate the obstacles in your path. Unlock the Space Launch System subsequentially, and so forth. Progressively, the abilities of the rockets you unlock will help you with getting to the new area and unlocking the new rocket that I'm gonna add in 1.0...

But until then, enjoy this update, 0.6.0 the Progression Update, and 0.6.1, the Optimization Update! (seriously, this game is super un-optimized.)

Changelog:

  • Rockets will not be flyable until you have met a certain goal - a certain score, a certain level, etc.
  • Save game! (we all want our progress saved, don't we?)
  • Rocket price rebalancing - every time you die, the base price for a rockets increase by 0.5 AstroDollars™
  • You can fly a rocket only once every two deaths
  • Polish! (This is beta, after all)
  • Achievement system! (currently only rocket unlock achievments but more to come!)
  • Rewards for the achievments
  • The Space Shuttle satellite's ability has been redesigned to be pretty bad but it's your first rocket so whatever
  • Other changes that spice up the game a little bit more but you probably won't conciously notice
  • Bug fixes! I STILL don't keep a spreadsheet of what I fix so YAY! N00 bugg fiex listt 4oar yeww

Anyway, have fun with your new-found keyboard costs from rage, have fun having your computer not burn up in flames in 0.6.1, and enjoy version 1.0 in October!
